Pre-Trip Service 03/07

The other half of the [DR]EAM Team had a great time at community forklift! It was a great time to bond with one another and get our painting skills ready for DR! Below are pictures of our team & the signs that we painted for the organization to use as chalkboards! They had us complete this activity because like many non profit organization they are often low on funding to have electronic signs made for their business instead they use chalk board paint and old material to remake them into beautiful artwork that will be displayed through out the store. These signs not only beautify the cold warehouse but they are also used to guide customers into the correct aisle for what they wish to buy. By having volunteers do something so simple like this, the owners of the nonprofit can take more time planning for the big things like helping out families in need!

  1. So we volunteered at community forklift this past Saturday and guess what it was great. We were given the chance to make chalk signs but also paint them. We used old cabinet doors which is a great way to recycle them. I might have to use their ideas for my upcoming creative project. I honestly thought we would be doing something else but since I volunteered to do the painting I didn’t get to experience hands on what the other team in charge of moving and organizing did. As I have learned volunteering is not what about you need to do to make something work but what the organizations feel would better help them. It took my last trip to understand that but now I know and I am glad to make such a little impact that in actuality is a great impact to the organizations. Overall community forklift is an awesome place, having shopped here before, I was used to how the things were arranged and how they did business/community outreach. Every time you go to the center it is a whole new eye-opener because of all the cool things to be found and that if it wasn’t for places like community forklift then these things would be in dump. All in all community forklift is a cool and sustainable place.
